For many post or thopedic surgical patients, venous thromboembolism (VTE) poses a significant health risk. VTE consists of 2 potentially life threatening conditions :
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
- Pulmonary embolism (PE)

These conditions can lead to long-term complications.
